Location Test Shots.

After looking at different pop-rock music videos, we have had a much clear idea of what there is included in a pop-rock music video. For our first location shoot, we have decided to stick around our school for the moment. While we were walking around this location, we were trying to imagine what would our music video look like in this place. Our goal with this photo shoot was, imagining the begging of of the video, and also thought of a brilliant ending.

Logo.

Anthem Beatz Records
After looking at different logos from different music companies we have decided that it would be appropriate to create our own logo. We have come up with the name 'Anthem Beatz Records' after noting down a few ideas, and mixing names up, also asking a few of our friends what is their opinion about it, having a result of them liking it. We  thought this name would be very appropriate, as we were thinking of creating something thrilling and new. We also wanted to make this logo look funky and unique so we have come up with different vibrant colors for our logo to stand out, and make it noticeable.

Pop Rock Video Comparison.

Evanescence- My Immortal.

''My Immortal'' was written in a slow and free tempo with 80 beats per minute. Ben Moody was inspired to write it by a previous story that happened to him. Lyrically, it talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." The video was entirely filmed in black and white in Gothic Quarter, Barcelona on October 10, 2003. The video shows Amy Lee sitting and singing on various location, but never touching the ground. Shots of Moody are also shown but he is never together with his band or Amy.

Pop Rock Video Comparison.

Avril Lavigne- Wish You Were Here.

The song is written about missing someone and looking back in the past and remembering all the good times. The video seems to be based in a messy forgotten room with not many props, only a few such as Avril setting fire with a litter to a flower. In terms of clothing, she wears a casual black dress to portray her feelings and the mood the video is in, such as emotionally sad. What I absolutely love about this video, is the lyrics to it and how she gives life to them in the video.

Pop Rock Video Comparison.

Because Of You- Kelly Clarkson.

This video is based on Kelly Clarkson's childhood, on coping with the emotional distress she was experiencing after her parents divorced. The video starts at the Clarkson household. There, she and her partner are engaged in a heated argument, and at one point he threatens to smash a picture of the family. Time freezes still and her husband becomes immobile; Clarkson, however, is immune to this. Looking around her house, she sees her younger self. Hand in hand, the younger and older versions of Clarkson relive her troubled childhood as various painful memories are seen, such as the younger Clarkson making a picture for her father, who tosses it into the sink, and Clarkson's mother making an unappreciated dinner for her father. These events drive her mother to the point of taking pills and crying in front of the younger Clarkson.
The breaking point is finally seen when Clarkson's parents have a physical fight and throw objects at each other. Soon after, Clarkson's father packs his bags and leaves; although the younger Clarkson tries to get him to stay, he pulls away. The older Clarkson runs back in time to the present. There, time unfreezes and instead of fighting with her husband, they make up. They then see that their daughter in the video had seen them fight, and they embrace her and each other. Meanwhile, Clarkson is shown singing on the front porch, her mother's bed and a room full of mirrors. The costumes are pretty casual in this video, as its meant to show the normal life of a couple, only on a bad day. The action is happening at the couples house. I believe this music video was very effective as it happens to be very emotional and it mostly shows the reality life of a couple and what most children have to cope with these kind of issues.

Chosen Song.

After researching into different genre types, we have decided the best genre for us would be pop-rock. The song we have officially choose to do for our project is 'Avril Lavigne-When Your Gone'.

POP ROCK- Pop Rock is a music genre which mixes a catchy pop style and light lyrics in its typically guitar based rock songs. The are varying definitions of the term, ranging from a slower and mellower for of rock music to a sub genre of pop music. Scholars have noted that pop and rock are usually depicted as opposites, the detractors of pop often deride it as a slick, commercial product and less authentic than rock music.

Featured Artist.

Avril Ramona Lavigne (born 27 September 1984) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She was born in Belleville, Ontario, but spent most of her youth in the small town of Napanee. By the age of 15, she had appeared on stage with Shania Twain; by 16, she had signed a two-album recording contract with Arista Records worth more than $2 million. In 2002, when she was 17 years old, Lavigne broke onto the music scene with her debut album Let Go.

Permission For Copyright.

As we chose an unoriginal song, we had to acknowledge the copyright rules, therefor we emailed Avril Lavigne's label RCA Records UK whose parent corporation is Sony Music Entertainment, to ask for permission to use 'When Your Gone' in our music video. Below is a print screen to prove that we have sent an email to Sony Music Entertainment.

Initial Song Ideas.

Myself, Gabby & Holly have decided to use a familiar well known song, from a well known artist. A song that can relate to everyone, and who people listen to in times when they feel heart-broken. Therefor we choose When Your Gone by Avril Lavigne. We asked a few of our friends's opinion's and most them were positive opinions, some of them even claimed it was their favorite song of all times, therefor we stuck with this beautiful song.

Last Year's Target.

Last year for our AS Media studies, myself and my group produced a two minute opening short film, we were allowed to pick whatever genre we wanted to so we choose horror. The group consisted of Me, and my friends Gabby,Niall and Sam. It was an interesting challenge for us as Horror movies are not very easy to make. We all had different ideas, and for the final we all agreed on a simple typical horror opening, despise the less time we had to film and edit it. When it came to the final, our product was very successful and it even won 'Best Film Award' at our school at a film event 'John Cabot Academy Of Film And Television Arts' which was organized by our media studies teacher. This year, Me and Gabby are working once again in one group, along with our friend Holly. We will be using our online blogs, to help us plan each stage of our music video.

Genre Research.

As soon as we started on our project our first job was to choose a genre. We would like to pick a genre style that will definitely be effective to our target audience, so to achieve this we have decided each to look at different genres such as Rock/Pop/Hip-Hop/Pop-Rock/Indie/Acoustic/Alternative etc. I have chose to look at the following 4 genres which you can see below.

Pop-Rockis a music genre which mixes a catchy pop style and light lyrics in its (typically) guitar-based rock songs. There are varying definitions of the term, ranging from a slower and mellower form of rock music to a sub genre of pop music.

Pop-(a shorter saying for 'Popular')this type of genre is typically distributed to large audiences through the music industry. Popular music is a generic term for music of all ages that appeals to popular tastes, whereas pop music usually refers to a specific musical genre.

Hip-Hop- is an American musical genre in which rhythmic and rhyming speech is chanted to musical accompaniment. The term hip-hop music is sometimes used synonymous with the term rap music.

Acoustic Music-  Acoustic music comprises music that solely or primarily uses instruments which produce sound through entirely acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. The term "acoustic music" appeared after the advent of electric instruments, such as the electric guitar, electric violin, electric organ and synthesizer.
